Earthquake shakes Iceland

Posted on Friday 30 May 2008

Iceland has been shaken by a major earthquake of 6,5 magnitude yesterday. The epicenter was located aproximatly 50km south of Reykjavik near the town of Selfoss. Don’t wait for me to describe the feeling of it. It happens right when I decided to go to the gas station down my office to buy something to eat. When I came back, everybody asked me if I felt it. No… Nothing. I guess walking in the street wasn’t the best spot to feel it. Lots of houses have been damaged near Selfoss. Nothing serious reported in Reykjavik. I heard that even in my street some building have been evacuated. E and M asked me also how it was when I came back home. But I had to explain to them my situation when it happened and desperately hear another testimony of the event. "Things were shaking all over. The whole building was moving up and down. It was a frightening feeling".
