Spring Playlist

I haven’t shared the music I’m singing in my shower since a while now. Yes, I know some of what I’m listening to has no lyrics, but I can whistle duh!? I don’t really know how to order all that. I think the easiest way is to take one track by one regardless of date, style and band name. In other words, just randomly talk about them as it come out of my mind. This is going to cover a pretty large music domains, from drum and bass to 80’s French new age along with some serious Spanish shit.

Pryda - Muranyi: My typical electro stuff thing. The type of tune that can make anyone dance like a bloke on ecstasy. There is not so much to say about Muranyi: simple, melodic, progressive, a completely sublime track. I think I feel something for 8 bits console-like sounds anyway.
High Contrast - Kiss kiss bang band:  From the lastest album of High Contrast “Tough guys don’t dance”  Kiss kiss bang band is  definitely a must have. I’ve been rarely desapointed by any track from Hospital records, specially from High Contrast. I must admit I haven listened much to that album. But as far as I can tell this one sounds darker and way more in a classical uk Drum and Bass than his usual liquid funk he masters. I doubt that album will be my favorite but Kiss kiss bang band is exactly what i like about drum and bass.
Taxi girl - Cherchez le garcon: The mega flop from the 80’s. Yet I really love this record. ‘Cherchez le garcon’ is a mix where playful synth melodies collide with jarring acoustic guitars, whilst distorted vocals express fresh and joyous. What I like the most is the cheap sound of the vocal. It seems it has been recorded on the Windows 95 media recorder. I would definitely spin that one on my perfect party.
Plain White T’s - Hey There Delilah: I was wondering if that tune is a hit all around the world. I actually haven’t heard a lot here and there. And the cheesy girly music is generally not the kind of music I’m attracted to. But I have to say that this one is really amazing. Everything is perfect. I think the 27 millions views of the video on youtube just confirms I’m not the only one to think so.
Bush - inflatable: I suppose Bush is more ‘underground’ that the Plain White T’s? They’re from England and took their band name from the legendary Sheperd’s bush venue in London. I guess they must have suffered from their silly homonym. I think I bought one of their album something like 15 years ago. They were pretty much presented as the Nirvana alternative by that time. Stupid… They are like much more talented. Anyway, this song isn’t really typical to what they do. However you have an idea of the uniqueness of the singer’s voice Gavin Rossdale.
Sagat - Funk dat: This is an old chicago house record. I love this track. There is not much to say about the 90’s style loops on the instrumental but more about the hilarious MC talking over it about his daily routine and on how he gets annoyed by people around. You know, it is this kind of record that made you smile. Yet the music is far from being bad.
Ojos de brujo - Memorias perdidas: I have no idea how I happen to listen to that one although I have a whole bunch of Flamenco record here and there. Anyway, I don’t know much about Ojos de brujo. The album, Bari, isn’t very my taste. They’re trying to mix up different style with flamenco. Some songs are ok, but most aren’t really sounding anything. Memorias Perdidas is purely Flamencoish and it’s just brilliant. Close you eres, and you’ll feel the warmth temperature of Andaloucia.
Marshall Jefferson vs Noosa Heads - Mushrooms (Justin Martin remix): I first heard that track on Von Stroke BBC1 essential mix. This is again a sort of music that brings you someplace else. Again, the instrumental is not very sofisticated but the lyrics are just great. Actually the combination of the lyrics and the whole tripping music make it awesome. As the title can tell. It’s all about mushrooms…
N.E.R.D. - She Wants To Move (Justice Remix): Although I’m fed up of the so called electrocrash kind of stuff, this remix by Justice is really nice. It’s not as agressive as bands from that scene, sebAstian, Kavinsky and other Busy P. It keeps the spirit of the orginal song and add the dynamism of electro music.
