It took me days to get totally rid of my cold I got 2 weeks ago. At work lots of people were sick as well. Last weekend downtown was deserted. Go figure…
It’s really funny in Reykjavik, how easy the mass is predictable. Every end of month 50% of the usual "going out people" stay home. End of the month equals no more money. I’m not kidding, it’s blatant. Also, surprisingly, bad weather equals an approximate loss of 30 to 50% of the same population. Finally, the worst is: exams equals a rough loss of 70% of that same population. Coming to the point that we were last Friday during exams period. And local news forcasted a tempest.
I went to see some friends. We decided to go have a beer at Kultura that night. I have to admit I’ve never seen such desolated city. On my way to M’s place I saw 2 people walking in the opposite sidewalk falling down. They didn’t seem drunk or anything but one managed to be blowed away by the wind. I’ve never experienced such thing myself. The wind was blowing so much that when I reached the crossroad of Laugavegur and Snorrabraut, I had to hold the light to stay on my feet. Later on, I surprised myself running… …as if someone was pulling me out of the street.
