Holy Day

Posted on Friday 31 August 2007

That’s how I can name my day today. Yet the day is not over, but I can fairly state that today, Friday the 31st of August is a blessed day. I had particularly tough months lately and today I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know what you’re thinking: “how can I dare saying something such dramatic not being sick, poor, nor victim of any political repression”. Well, you’re right, but in my personal scale of time pain, those past few weeks were not the best.

This afternoon I had an interview in a big software company in Reykjavik for a position as IT specialist. I know already that my candidacy for Oslo has been accepted but I found it dull not to give it a try. A minute before I got in the building I received a phone call from “Tíu Ellefu” (see my previous post). The manager of the shop asked me to come over to get my money back. The security cameras being fruitful apparently.

The interview went just fine. People in there were really nice and the atmosphear of the whole building felt very cool. The job itself is not the best though, but the salary and the work schedule are just great.

An hour after I jumped into my bike on a widespread heavy rain and went straight to “Tíu Ellefu”. The manager welcolmed me with my money (Actually not my money but the amount of money I have declared stolen), his apology and a family box of “After Eight” . Cameras revealed that the security bloke took my wallet from the cashier desk and without any shame felt free to put my several bank notes right into his pocket. There was no point to ask if he has been fired. To be honest I felt sorry about all that story. After all, I am the idiot who let his wallet in the cahier desk? I guess I’m also the dumbass that ask the manager of a supermarket to review his security cameras to get a thief.
