Iceland Airwaves is a world-class music festival, which takes place at bars and clubs throughout central Reykjavík. The event attracts up to 600 foreign journalists and around 5000 of the global public to Iceland, who come to soak up the vibes. To put that another way, during the five days of Iceland Airwaves, six hundred people will be here with the exclusive purpose of telling the world about the Icelandic music scene. That’s pretty impressive. The event will take place from Wednesday, October the 18th to Sunday, October the 22nd. Iceland Airwaves is all about downtown Reykjavík. This is where most of the musicians live and breath so that is where the festival should take place. Maintaining the tradition of cutting-edge music, all night parties and general debauchery. As you can guess I’ve already bought my pass. No way I’ll miss that ! There is so much to see but as my favorite I’d say: Apparat Organ Quartet: I made you hear it a while back. Still listenable in the ‘Music’ category, Benni Hemm Hemm, Jeff Who?: Those ones are just great ! Pure rock’n'roll, Kaiser Chiefs: Should I really present them ?, The Go! Team: Probably the group I’m more excited for. You probably heard it as well, We are Scientists: Directly coming from the US. Excellent, Kira Kira: From Kitchen motors, very minimalist electronica. and finally Mugison. The event is starting at the right time. Snow is quietly covering mountains, cold is coming up slowly, the sun is admitting defeat in the battle against darkness and I’m starting again to see a slight interest on night life. I admit, with my double combo of last week (Friday + Saturday), called by professionals: “The Double Carpette”, It couldn’t happen in a best time. So of course, I had loads of funny things I would have written down about those Reykjavik’s nights. But some readers may be involved in this in a way or another. And in respect for their pride and honor I thought it would be wiser to keep that silent :D. Beside I already had the bad experience of gossips flooding as fast as a bottle of vodka around 3 fins in Fontana. The dark side of the small world ! Anyway for Iceland airwaves It’s 4 days in a row. So I shall start slowly on Wednesday and Thursday to keep an eye open at the office the days after. For finally be ready to behave as my cat I named Booka Shade. (No I don’t have a cat, I just personified the gif)
