Everything started at 8pm when I picked up a friend at the office to head straight for a cold one in Sirkus. The place was pretty empty because it was early, but still a bunch of folks drinking the late-after-work-coffee. We were talking about music and movies when I asked if he heard about "Thanks you for smoking", the last Jason Reitman movie. The thing is I forgot the name of the movie and I said "Please don’t smoke" or "Stop smoking". The guy behind us picked up those words and thought I was talking to him… Well that’s when we met Henry: an englishman from London who were experiencing Reykjavik’s night life after a 4 days trip on the country. We have few nice discussions about politics. I don’t know why but politics is always discussed after the second beer. It seems that the conversation was such interesting that the barmaid join our little debate about Europe.. 10:30pm we received a phone call from Aude (the new trainee). Apparently there was a party going on at the university. We went there and I have to say: that was crap ! It looked more like a big market where people choose there next sexual partner. However we had lots of fun telling people what we were doing in iceland. A girl came to me The girl: "So what are you doing in Iceland ?" Me: "I’m an exchange student !" The girl: "Oh that’s great ? Here at the university ? what are you studying ?" Me: "Yes ! I’m studying human relations" The girl: "Sounds fun" Me: "It is ! really !" My friend was stuck with a finnish exchange student for a while. I have to say I could understand why, she was really cute. I was with Aude when we looked at her. We had lots of fun watching the queue of people behind my friend growing. They were all waiting their turn to talk to her and maybe have the chance to get her number… Pathetic ! 12pm we decided to leave the place for going down town. My friend left and I went with Aude and Hans, a german friend of her. We stayed an hour in a bar but we quickly realised that the place was too noisy and getting a little bit too crazy to have some descent conversations.
