The real Sirkus

Posted on Tuesday 1 August 2006

About 3 weeks ago I went with some colleagues in a bar called Sirkus. I’ve had a pretty nice surprise there. I met Laurent a french exchange student from Åbo Akademi. When I first saw him I had for a very few a moment of doubt of where I was. A flash came to my mind of seing him dancing near the bar of Oliver’s inn where he usualy stood. "What the hell ?" "Hey, do you know that I’ve met your double once ?" No, it was him dancing in the middle of the crowd. We didn’t talk very much during that night.

Last saturday, or was it friday ? (I don’t remember) He called me to have few beers. We went in the same bar and talked about what he was doing here and all that stuff. The guy is a real Globe-trotter and it was really nice listenning to his stories.

A series of gigantic dams is already under construction at Kárahnjúkar in the eastern highlands of Iceland. These dams are designated solely to generate energy for one massive ALCOA aluminium smelter to be built in the beautiful fjord of Reydarfjördur, and due to be operational in 2007.

Laurent took part of a big protestation to fight this. (http://www.savingiceland.org). It was nice talking to him, but the night came pretty quickly and the bar turned into a typical icelandic saturday night. Björk (the singer, not my upstairs neighbour) came later on. She was completly over excited and jumped everywhere like a chip or someone in drugs (choose). I left quite early 3.30am. Today, I read on the news that later this night some guy bit the Dj’s ear…

I tell you, week-ends in Iceland is the real circus….

hmm.. I’m a bit afraid of reading your blog nowadays… you know how it affects my dreams and I’d really need a good night sleep. but, of course, it’s great to hear from you!

    Ah ah ah, Siina :P

I tell you, If I write a blog dedicated to my dreams you’d be flooded by bullcrap and other non sense stories…

For instance, I remember that a couple of night ago I was a waiter in Tampere’s Rax (The fast food), as I was not able to speak finnish (of course), I had to hide as mush as I can from my boss to keep the job.
And the only word I remenber saying was “Kiiti” instead of saying Kiitos because I felt it sounded cool and thus a good way to hide the truth.

So why I’ve dreamt that ?!?!!$#µ!?

No idea, Should I be afraid ?

Hi there! Nice to see that you’re doing better and better. About the windows by the way.. I have never lived in an appartment with windows like in prison so… let’s just say that they are Icelandic, not Scandinavian, windows=).

Cool that you saw Björk alive!

Terveisiä myös Suomesta: Soon the studies are about to begin again and I will start as an international tutor. My pair is Julien from EFREI who has been here in Finland for few years already. I have to try to speak French with him and other French students as much as possible to keep up with my skill!
